One of the NDIA’s core goals is to safeguard NDIS funds so the scheme is there for Australians with disability when they need it. That means helping participants get the maximum benefit from their budgets, so they can pursue their goals and access the services and supports that matter.
Fraud and non-compliance
The NDIA actively works to prevent, detect, and respond to fraud and non-compliance that could misuse NDIS funds, protecting the long-term sustainability of the scheme. Reports of suspected non-compliant or fraudulent behaviour—often involving providers—are taken seriously; every allegation is monitored, assessed, and followed up through targeted compliance activities, with action taken where required.
Obligations as a provider
Providers are expected to operate with integrity and in line with the NDIS Act, participant plans, and all relevant policies and guidance. To support this, the NDIS Provider page hosts key resources including the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards, What is Non-Compliance, What is Fraud?, Changes to the Legislation, and Conflicts of interest in the NDIS provider market | NDIS. Reviewing these materials will strengthen compliance and help ensure services and claims are appropriate and lawful.
Need help with compliance or claims?
If you have questions about delivering compliant services, making compliant claims, or wish to discuss any past claims (including those that may be non-compliant), the NDIA can help. A dedicated team provides guidance and assists with correcting errors. Visit the Provider Compliance page on the NDIS website or call the National Contact Centre on 1800 800 110.
Reporting non-compliance
Concerns about the practices of NDIS participants, providers, nominees, or partners can be reported via the Fraud reporting form | NDIS or by calling the Report a Fraud and Scams Helpline on 1800 650 717. Every report helps protect participants and the sustainability of the scheme.
